NAMING CEREMONIES:
Whatever you choose, it is important to remember that this is your time and space to craft a ceremony that is personal and bursting with meaning and symbolic moments.
The role of a Celebrant is to not only write and craft the Naming Ceremony, but to lead all proceedings on the day. It is their responsibility to create a meaningful, personalized ceremony that perfectly encapsulates you and your child’s life.
Your Celebrant will spend time getting to know you; they will ask you questions and prompts in order to find out more about your family history and your hopes for your child. As every single Naming Ceremony script is written from scratch, they will then use their newly discovered understanding of your special family to design a service that tells your unique story.
The beauty of a naming ceremony is that you can design it however you like – there are no legal requirements and restrictions, so it can be fully tailored to your wants and needs. However, this is what you might expect from a typical naming ceremony:
Travel expense: $.60/km over 100 km round trip.
$300.00
- A naming ceremony is a very special way of celebrating the birth of your child and welcoming the new arrival into your family and the wider community. It is also ideally suited to welcome and celebrate an adoptive child into your family, or, to embrace stepchildren into a new family.
- During a naming ceremony, you will celebrate the beautiful union between family and life. Your ceremony will be totally personalized to you and your child, announcing to the world that you are officially naming and welcoming them into your family.
- Your ceremony will be written by your celebrant, telling the story of your child and their special role in your family. You will share your hopes and dreams for your child, and may choose to include the significance of their name and why you chose it.
- You will have the option to include readings and music in the service, further adding a personal meaning to the ceremony. The music you select could be sung by your family and friends as part of the naming ceremony, or it could be playing in the background throughout the day. You may even choose to have a certain song as an official part of the naming part of the ceremony; the congregation could sing an important song to formalize the naming of the child.

- A Naming Interview Questionnaire will be emailed to the parent's prior to our first consultation.
- A Naming Ceremony will most often not be held in a church, and you have the option to either include or omit religious content.
- Christenings tend to focus on the beginning of a journey of ‘faith’; this means, typically, it will require the family to belong to their local Church. The Ceremony is done by an ordained Priest or Minister. It will involve religious symbolism and certain set procedures in line with the Church of England practices and ‘Godparents’ must already be christened to qualify to become one.
- Naming Ceremonies, on the other hand, are highly personalized and reflect the family and their wishes. They can also be held in any location so you have the freedom to decide where you’d like to celebrate.
